Through his widely influential columns to Colombo Telegraph and Daily FT, Harsha Gunasena has written subjects such as good governance, corruption, democracy, justice, economy, religion and various contemporary issues.

In this selection from the 170 columns Harsha has written in the past decade offers a unique and frank insight into the current debate on Sri Lankan affairs.

He is one of the main intellectual forces behind the present National Movement for Social Justice in relation to anti-corruption. Gunasena’s fact-based analysis often explains ‘why’.

Although many readers labeled him as a free market campaigner, in my opinion his columns reflect responsible capitalism which integrates social responsibility and ethical practices.

This book is a valuable addition to a meager list of books that take Sri Lanka’s social change seriously.

-Uvindu Kurukulasuriya - Founder and editor-in-chief of Colombo Telegraph

The title of the volume, My View: Alternative Thinking, gives an advance warning to the reader what to expect from the book: the thinking of a writer who has views different from what those in extant society popularly hold. His critical pen has penetrated all the governments that had been in power since 2004. Hence, readers may enjoy them at their convenience. A good point is that Gunasena’s writing is lucid, to the point, and easily understandable. His critical pen presents the critiques of extant popular beliefs and ideologies without partiality to any political party or ideology. Hence, they can be enjoyed by all readers interested in learning of an alternative view on contemporary issues.

-Dr W A Wijewardena, Formerly Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and presently independent economic analyst

"Harsha Gunasena is a Chartered Accountant by profession and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Postgraduate Institute of Management of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He had a long stint at the Private sector. His newspaper articles of over a decade compiled to this book are a diary of political and economic issues faced by Sri Lanka and provide a useful insight to Sri Lanka, its history, its people and its place in the international community."
